The Pinnacle Of On Road Competition
Dating back to the 1970s, the 1:8 Nitro On Road class is the oldest category in the sport, and remains the pinnacle of on road racing.
With the cars drawing inspiration from the sculpted aerodynamic lines of full-size sports prototypes, the class is renowned for its high speed action, delivering some of the most exciting racing in the scale motorsport world.
High Speed Endurance Racing
The racing in 1:8 Nitro On Road is non-stop high speed action – with large, flowing paved circuits and bodyshells that maximise downforce, the category is unlike anything else in scale motorsport.
However, it isn’t simply a case of a straightforward race to the finish – with races lasting up to 60 minutes, as with other nitro-fuelled categories, strategy is a critical part of competition. As with full size endurance racing, refuelling and tyre changes can make or break your race, adding another dimension to an already thrilling category.
Precision Racing Machines
The cars in the 1:8 Nitro On Road class are built with speed in mind – low profile designs with fully independent suspension, four-wheel drive and virtually endless adjustment possibilities make them ideally suited to the demands of the circuits they compete on – however, given the high level of competition and the high speed nature of the racing, the class is not typically considered to be an entry route into the sport.
